panography /pənog″rəfē/ , a method of tomography that visualizes curved surfaces of the body at any depth. In dentistry it is accomplished by simultaneous radiography or dental imaging of the maxillary and mandibular dental arches and associated structures along two axes of rotation. A panoramic image is recorded on an intensifying screen that rotates with the radiation source around the patient’s head. The image is converted to digital form to be viewed on a computer screen.
