panacinar emphysema

panacinar emphysema /pan′əsin′ər/ [Gk, pan, all + L, acinus, grape] , one of the principal types of emphysema, characterized by relatively uniform enlargement of air spaces throughout the terminal bronchioles and alveoli. It is an inherited condition. Also called chronic hypertrophic emphysema, diffuse emphysema, ectatic emphysema, generalized emphysema, panlobular emphysema, vesicular emphysema.
