osteitis

osteitis /os′tē·ī″tis/ [Gk, osteon + itis, inflammation] , an inflammation of bone caused by infection, degeneration, or trauma. Symptoms include swelling; tenderness; dull, aching pain; and redness in the skin over the affected bone. Kinds include osteitis deformans, osteitis fibrosa cystica.
