Orbivirus

Orbivirus /ôr″bivī′rəs/ [L, orbis, ring] , a genus of the Reoviridae family of viruses that contains double-stranded ribonucleic acid. It is characterized by an outer layer of rings of capsomeres. Insects are hosts for orbiviruses. Colorado tick fever and African horse sickness are among infections caused by species of these viruses. Orbiviruses are primarily animal pathogens; only 7 out of 100 of these are linked to clinical human disease.
