nasal fracture reduction, repair of the paired nasal bones or cartilage. Reduction can be closed or open. Closed reduction is usually performed by digital and instrumental manipulation with the patient under topical and local anesthesia. When the fracture is severe, open reduction under general anesthesia with interosseous wire fixation of bone fragments may be necessary. Nasal fractures are the most common facial fractures and may lead to obstruction without proper attention. See also rhinoplasty.
