naratriptan, a migraine agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used in the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: The following factors prohibit its use: angina pectoris, a history of myocardial infarction, documented silent ischemia, ischemic heart disease, concurrent use of ergotamine-containing preparations, uncontrolled hypertension, hypersensitivity, severe renal disease (creatinine clearance rate 15 mL/min), and severe hepatic disease in children (Pugh grade C). ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects include nausea, myalgia, dizziness, sedation, and fatigue. Common side effects include weakness and neck stiffness.
