monooctanoin /mon′ō·ok′tənō″in/ , a gallstone-dissolving agent. 
INDICATIONS: It is used to dissolve cholesterol gallstones. CONTRAINDICATIONS: It is contraindicated in patients with jaundice, severe biliary tract infection, or a history of recent duodenal ulcer or jejunitis. ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and GI pain.
