moderator band /mod″ərā′tər/ [L, moderari, to restrain; AS, bindan, to bind] , a thick bundle of muscle in the central part of the right ventricle of the heart. Missing in some individuals and varying in size in others, it usually contains part of the atrioventricular conduction bundle. Also called trabecula septomarginalis.
