Möbius’ syndrome

Möbius’ syndrome /mē″bē·əs/ [Paul J. Möbius, German neurologist, 1853–1902] , a rare developmental disorder characterized by congenital bilateral facial palsy, usually associated with oculomotor or other neurological dysfunctions, speech disorders, and various anomalies of the extremities. It is caused by a developmental defect involving the motor nuclei of the cranial nerves. Also called congenital facial diplegia, congenital oculofacial paralysis, nuclear agenesis.
