mesenteric node

mesenteric node [Gk, mesos + enteron, intestine; L, nodus, knot] , a node in one of three groups of superior mesenteric lymph glands serving parts of the intestine. An average of 125 mesenteric nodes in three different groups lie between the layers of the mesentery. The mesenteric nodes receive afferent vessels from the jejunum, ileum, cecum, vermiform appendix, ascending colon, and transverse colon. Compare ileocolic node, mesocolic node.
