Merkel cell carcinoma

Merkel cell carcinoma /mer″kəl, mur″kəl/ [Friedrich S. Merkel, German anatomist and physiologist, 1845–1919] , a rapidly growing malignant skin tumor that tends to occur on sun-exposed surfaces of older Caucasian individuals. It is composed of small cells in a trabecular pattern that contain dense core granules.
