male pattern alopecia

male pattern alopecia [L, mas, male; ME, patron + Gk, alopex, fox mange] , a common form of baldness in males, beginning at the frontal scalp and spreading gradually until only a fringe remains around the back of the head. Individual differences are determined by heredity, androgenic stimulation, and aging. Also called male pattern baldness.
