lepromatous, lepromatous leprosy

lepromatous, lepromatous leprosy, a form of leprosy caused by mycobacteria that begins with pale, hairless skin lesions and slowly progresses to involve bones, internal organs, joints, and marrow if left untreated. Long-term antibiotic therapy with clofazimine, dapsone, or rifampin can halt disease progression and cure the disease. See leprosy.
