angina

angina /anjī″nə, an″jinə/ [L, angor, quinsy (strangling)] , 1. a spasmodic, cramplike choking feeling resulting from insufficient oxygen supply to the myocardium, commonly caused by coronary artery disease. See angina pectoris. 2. characterized by a feeling of choking, suffocation, or crushing pressure and pain. Kinds include decubitus angina, preinfarction angina, intestinal angina.
