kerion /kir″ē·on/ [Gk, honeycomb] , an inflamed, boggy granuloma or secondary infected lesion that develops as an immune reaction to a superficial fungus infection, generally in association with Tinea capitis of the scalp. The most common treatment is antifungal medicine administered orally, which may be supplemented with corticosteroids.
