Jake paralysis

Jake paralysis, (of historic significance) upper motor neuron damage resulting in a characteristic walk. It was first observed in the 1930s during Prohibition in the United States and was caused by drinking an alcoholic extract of Jamaican ginger adulterated by the pesticide tri-ortho-cresyl phosphate (Jake). See ginger paralysis.
