implanted infusion port

implanted infusion port, a self-sealing silicone septum encased in a metal or plastic case with an attached silicone catheter that is threaded intravenously. It is implanted subcutaneously and used for long-term venous access for infusion of medications, parenteral nutrition, or IV solutions.
