ideational apraxia

ideational apraxia /ī′dē·ā″shənəl/ [Gk, idea, form, a + prassein, not to do] , a condition in which the conceptual process is lost, often because of a lesion in the parietal lobe. The individual is unable to formulate a plan of movement and does not know the proper use of an object because of a lack of perception of its purpose. There is no loss of motor movement or strength, but the reason for the movement is confused. Also called sensory apraxia. See also apraxia.
