hypochromic anemia

hypochromic anemia, 1. a group of anemias characterized by a decreased concentration of hemoglobin in the red blood cells. 2. a decrease in hemoglobin characterized by hypochromic, microcytic red blood cells, such as iron deficiency anemia, thalassemia and anemia of chronic inflammation.
