glatiramer, a multiple sclerosis drug. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used to reduce the frequency of relapses in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to this drug or to mannitol prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects include migraine, palpitations, syncope, tachycardia, vasodilation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, gastroenteritis, ecchymosis, lymphadenopathy, edema, weight gain, arthralgia, anxiety, hypertonia, tremor, vertigo, speech disorder, agitation, confusion, bronchitis, dyspnea, pruritus, rash, sweating, urticaria, erythema, ear pain, urinary urgency, dysmenorrhea, and vaginal moniliasis.
