allograft /al″əgraft/ [Gk, allos, other + graphion, stylus] , surgical transplantation of tissue between two genetically dissimilar individuals of the same species, such as between two humans who are not monozygotic twins. Tissues commonly used for allografts include cornea, cartilage, bone, artery, and cadaver skin stored in a skin-tissue bank.
