fosfomycin, a urinary antiinfective drug. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used to treat infections of the urinary tract caused by Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects include vaginitis, dysuria, hematuria, menstrual disorder, fever, insomnia, somnolence, migraine, asthenia, nervousness, constipation, dry mouth, flatulence, increased SGPT, dyspepsia, and pruritus. Common side effects are headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and rash.
