fluoroacetic acid (FCH2COOH) /flo͝or′ō·asē″tik, -aset″ik/ , a colorless water-soluble, highly toxic compound that blocks the citric acid cycle, causing convulsions and ventricular fibrillation. It is derived from a South African tree and is used in some potent pesticides.
