flaval ligaments

flaval ligaments [L, ligare + flavus, yellow] , the bands of yellow elastic tissue connecting the laminae of adjacent vertebrae from the axis to the first segment of the sacrum. They are thin, broad, and long in the cervical region, thicker in the thoracic region, and thickest in the lumbar region. They help hold the body erect.
