enoxaparin /e-nok″säpar′in/ , a low-molecular-weight heparin used as the sodium salt to prevent pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis after hip or knee replacement or high-risk abdominal surgery, administered subcutaneously as the sodium salt. It is also used together with warfarin in the treatment of deep venous thrombosis and together with aspirin in the prevention of coronary thrombosis associated with unstable angina or certain kinds of myocardial infarction.
