endocervical /-sur″fikəl/ [Gk, endon + L, cervix, neck] , pertaining to that portion of the cervical canal dominated by endometrial columnar cells rather than flat squamous cells. Its special importance is the the junction of the two, the squamocolumnar junction, which is the most common site of cervical dysplasia. Also called intracervical. See also squamocolumnar junction.
