ectodermal dysplasia, any of a group of hereditary disorders involving tissues and structures derived from the embryonic ectoderm. Ectodermal dysplasia is a component of various syndromes, including anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia and ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia-clefting (EEC) syndrome.
