dysostosis /dis′ostō″sis/ [Gk, dys + osteon, bone, osis] , an abnormal condition characterized by defective ossification, especially defects in the normal ossification of fetal cartilages. Kinds include cleidocranial dysostosis, craniofacial dysostosis, mandibulofacial dysostosis, metaphyseal dysostosis, Nager’s acrofacial dysostosis.
