Agent Orange, a U.S. military code name for a mixture of two herbicides, 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T, used as a defoliant during the Vietnam War between 1961 and 1971. The herbicides were unintentionally contaminated with the highly toxic chemical dioxin, which is believed to cause cancer and birth defects in animals and has been established as a cause of numerous health and environmental problems in those exposed to it.
