dipivefrin /dī′pivef″rin/ , an ophthalmic sympathomimetic agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Narrow-angle glaucoma or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the most serious adverse effects are reactive hyperemia, conjunctivitis, allergic reactions, macular edema, tachycardia, arrhythmia, and hypertension.
